We are horrified by Hamas’ brutal attack on Israeli civilians, and mourning the lives lost as the toll continues to climb. We join the world in expressing our unequivocal condemnation; there can be no justification for attacks that target civilians. Our hearts are with the lost, missing and kidnapped, and all those who love them.
We also recognize the Palestinian civilian lives lost in recent days and the continual toll taken by the Israeli occupation and blockade. We call for the United States response to be rooted in a commitment to international law, human rights, and the protection of human life and dignity.
