Rep. Sara Jacobs is an assertive progressive leader with an impressive record of accomplishments. Before coming to Congress, she brought her background in International security policy and conflict resolution to the U.S. Department of State, where she focused on conflict prevention, countering violent extremism, and U.S. foreign policy in sub-Saharan Africa. She was the Founding Chair of San Diego for Every Child, a coalition dedicated to eradicating child poverty, and co-founded Project Connect, an international education non-profit dedicated to connecting students around the world to the internet that has since become a flagship project of UNICEF.
One of the youngest members of Congress, Sara has made the families, kids, and workers of San Diego a priority, securing millions of dollars in assistance to provide equity and access to the internet for school districts and libraries. She’s also advocated for veterans, particularly those suffering from homelessness, and co-sponsored the “Ending Veteran Homelessness Act.”
Sara has been very active in combating the climate crisis, and strongly believes that young people and those most impacted must have a seat at the table when planning our climate response. She supports a transition to a clean energy economy, with an emphasis on environmental justice that prioritizes the most vulnerable communities.
Sara has been a leader in the House in the response to the disastrous Dobbs decision. She introduced the “My Body, My Data Act” to protect private reproductive healthcare information, and co-led the “Right to Contraception Act”’, recently passed out of the House.
